HOUSE & HOME OF/FOR MUSIC
Alvar Aalto designed only one private house - Villa Kokkonen - in a fundamental sense for and around high-quality classical music. Not to mention that the studio of Villa Kokkonen is one of the best acoustical spaces Aalto was able to achieve during his whole career.
It also happened that in the studio of Villa Kokkonen was composed one of the most popular Finnish operas called "The Last Temptations" (1975). The composer was Alvar Aalto´s academic friend and colleague, Mr. Joonas Kokkonen, after whom the house got its name. Kokkonen lived with his family at Villa Kokkonen for 27 years (1969 - 1996).
The architectural seed of Villa Kokkonen is embedded in Joonas Kokkonen´s grand piano.
